On a very rainy day, I had the honor of going to the UC Sacramento Center, across the street from the Capitol.  There was a wonderful turnout of well more than 100 state workers, students and community members.

My talk was on “Immigration and California in a Time of Trump,” and I focused on immigration federalism issues that have arisen in recent years.  The state Legislature had been active in passing laws designed to protect immigrants.  The Trump administration has challenged some of those laws and fought to de-fund “sanctuary” cities.

The attendees had some wonderful questions.  We had a lively discussion of the impacts of immigrants on U.S society and the need for immigration reform.

The UC Sacramento Center is a treasure for students and I am pleased to have had a chance to talk there on immigration.
