On Thursday, Jan. 18, UC Davis School of Law hosted Preview Day, an admissions event for UC Davis undergraduates interested in King Hall. We had a great discussion with some current Double Aggie law students and an alum, Nimra Syed '19, regarding our law school.

On Thursday, Jan. 18, the California Environmental Law and Policy Center (CELPC) hosted Jack Dear '83, retired Chief Supervising Attorney of the California Supreme Court. CELPC Co-Director, Professor Rick Frank '74 engaged in a dialogue with Dear about the workings of the California Supreme Court. Dear worked for a series of justices, including retired Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye '84. Although retired, Dear continues to do volunteer work for Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero.
This year's UC Davis Business Law Journal annual symposium on Feb. 9 will focus on Artificial Intelligence and its implications for attorneys in a variety of industries. Distinguished panelists broken up into three panels will discuss what the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence are, as well as examine the effects this technology will have on the work of attorneys employed in STEM and medical industries and entertainment and copyright law.
Today’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day offers a chance to reflect on the legacy of the civil rights giant whose name graces our building and whose principles unify our community.
This year, we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the vibrant King Hall mural in the courtyard, which depicts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the word “Dream.” Co-created by Reza Harris ‘19 and artist Eric Norberg, the mural pays tribute to King’s famous 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech.
This week, the Schwartz/Levi Inn of Court helds its monthly meeting. Inn President Justice Shama Mesiwala '98 began the evening by introducing UC Davis Law student and Law Student Association President, Brenda Quintanilla '24. Brenda read her beautiful and poignant spoken work poem "Corn Stalks" about the death of a young farmworker in the fields.
