Would you like to improve your legal research skills? Bloomberg Law, Lexis and Westlaw each offer legal research certification programs. After completion, students may list certifications on their resumes. See below for a summary of topics available and note that login credentials are required to access the courses. CEB will be holding a presentation for UC Davis law students on Tuesday, January 24th, from 12-12:45 p.m. in Room 1001. Lunch will be provided. CEB is a non-profit program of the University of California which publishes an extensive library of California practice guides & other practice materials. CEB’s AccessLaw program includes CEB’s library of practice guides as well as how-to guides, strategy notes, charts & checklists, workflows, and annotated sample documents.

The library offers a digital collection of exam prep and study materials which law students can access from computers or mobile devices. You can link to materials in the library's Study Aids Guide or the "Study Aids" icon on the library website.

Did you know that there is an entire legal research platform created by the University of California? Called CEB (Continuing Education for the Bar), it contains a variety of practice materials for California legal practitioners. You will find materials on California criminal law, estate planning, workers’ compensation, landlord/tenant practice, family law, real property transactions, and civil litigation.

Senior research law librarian, Elisabeth McKechnie, J.D., will give a talk about the basics of legislative history in the Federal System and California State law. She will be followed by Professors Jack Chin and Eric Fish, who have used legislative history to prove that facially neutral laws were actually racially biased.

 After Graduation:

Each year, the Mabie Law Library provides a special training opportunity for students hired as research assistants by King Hall faculty for the summer.  This year, the training will be held via Zoom on Monday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. To receive a Zoom link, please register in advance.
