UC Davis School of Law Students Honored at State Bar Conference
Several UC Davis Law students were honored with scholarships by the California Bar Foundation at the 81st annual meeting of the State Bar of California, held September 25-28, 2008, in Monterey. Current King Hall students Anel Carrasco '11 and Esmeralda Soria '11 received Diversity Scholarships. Neta Borshansky '09 was honored with a Public Interest Scholarship, while Nicholas Vidargas '08 received a 2008 Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship. The students were honored at a reception, with an introduction by State Bar President Jeff Bleich.
Dean Kevin Johnson and a number of UC Davis students attended also the California Women Lawyers' 34th annual dinner held during the State Bar conference in Monterey. California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald George delivered the keynote speech at the dinner. A number of friends and alums of UC Davis, including California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno and Sacramento Superior Court Judge Emily Vasquez, were in attendance.Johnson sat with the state bar's Public Law Section at the the invitation of Leslie Gallagher '00, deputy city attorney of Oceanside and incoming chair of the section. The dinner honored leading attorneys who have made great contributions to increasing the number of women in the legal profession.
