UC Davis School of Law Hosts CAPALF Conference

The UC Davis School of Law hosted the 15th annual Conference of Asian Pacific American Law Faculty (CAPALF) March 27-29, drawing legal scholars from across the country to the university campus.  King Hall faculty figured prominently in the conference, which was organized by Professor Anupam Chander and featured opening remarks from Dean Kevin R. Johnson.

The conference, which focused this year on the theme of "Asian-Americans: Linking Asia to America," included keynote speeches on "The Human Face of Immigration Policy" by Professor Bill Ong Hing and "Reading the Quran in Kuala Lumpur" by Professor Madhavi Sunder.  Professors Afra Afsharipour and Peter Lee presented papers, and Professors Chander, Thomas Joo, and Lisa Ikemoto commented on papers.

The three-day event marked the first time that the UC Davis School of Law, which is believed to have more Asian American faculty than any law school in the nation, played host to the CAPALF conference.  More than three dozen scholars and legal practitioners from around the country attended.
