UC Davis Law Welcomes AB Chile Delegation

In August, Dean Kevin R. Johnson welcomed a delegation from AB Chile, the Chilean food and beverage association led by Gonzalo Uriarte.

AB Chile represents 27 Chilean and international food companies including Nestle, Mars and Coke. Chilean Consul General for San Francisco Jaime Alliende and representatives of two of Chile’s largest food companies -- representing 10% of Chile’s GNP -- also joined the delegation.

Johnson and Uriarte signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to undertake cooperative activities in the development and assessment of policies and regulations related to food and beverage laws. AB Chile is working with UC Davis to expand scientific knowledge that supports the development of public policies with the potential to replicate this experience in Latin America.
