UC Davis Law hosts California Water Law Symposium

A keynote address by Laurel Firestone, member of the State Water Resources Control Board, highlighted the 2021 California Water Law Symposium, held Jan. 30. UC Davis School of Law was host of the daylong Zoom conference, co-chaired by students Austin Turner ‘21 and Melissa Quintero ‘21.

Professor Karrigan Börk, the introductory speaker for the symposium, noted afterward that the conference was  “very well attended, with as many or even more people than it tends to get in person. The students did an excellent job running it."

The 2021 symposium focused on climate change and its effect on weather patterns. Panel topics included hydropower relicensing, freshwater flow regulations, achieving water justice in a changing climate, and innovations in water storage.
