TaxProf Blog Highlights 'Access and Equity' Study Ranking UC Davis Law No. 1 in State

In a Dec. 1 post on his TaxProf Blog, Pepperdine Caruso School of Law Dean Paul Caron wrote about the Access and Equity Ranking of public law schools in which UC Davis Law finished first in California and 15th in the United States.

Texas Southern leads the rankings, reported in a Rutgers University Law Review article by Iowa College of Law Visiting Assistant Professor of Law Christopher Mathis. According to the article, Mathis based the rankings on “measurable outcomes related to diversity, access and equity.”

The article "seeks to center the needs of Black and Latinx prospective law students through a new ranking system," Mathis writes. The ranking "uses twelve access and equity measures that are significant to Black and Latinx law school fit. This 'Access and Equity Ranking' is the only ranking to date that will help Black and Latinx students identify which public law schools centers their needs"
