Sumbul Ali-Karamali '89 Comments on Islamic Law for CNN
Sumbul Ali-Karamali '89 commented on Islamic law and the Taliban for a CNN Newsroom segment on the Pakistani government's struggles with Taliban insurgents that aired May 10. Ali-Karamali, author of The Muslim Next Door: the Qur'an, the Media, and that Veil Thing, stated that the Taliban is actually "completely in violation of Sharia," the principles of Islam.
"As an academic and as a Muslim, I'm just outraged that the idea of Sharia, which is what they're claiming to bring back, is associated with the kinds of things that they do," said Ali-Karamali.
