Shama Mesiwala ’98 Profiled in Sacramento Bee

Shama Mesiwala ’98 was profiled in the Sacramento Bee in an article focusing on her appointment as a Sacramento County Court commissioner.  Senior Associate Dean Madhavi Sunder and Professor Karima Bennoune are quoted in the article.

Mesiwala is a senior judicial attorney for California’s 3rd District Court of Appeal, a visiting lecturer at King Hall, and co-founder of the South Asian Bar Association of Sacramento. Appointed by Superior Court judges, court commissioners exercise the same powers as trial court judges in matters such as small-claims actions and infractions. Mesiwala will handle juvenile dependency cases.
