Senior Associate Dean Afsharipour, Professor Miazad Present at Penn ESG Conference

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Afra Afsharipour (pictured) and Professor Amelia Miazad participated in the conference “The Future of ESG,” held Nov. 9-10 at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.

Afsharipour presented the paper “ESG Dealmaking” as part of the “ESG in the Private Sphere” panel. The paper will be published in a special symposium issue of the Penn Journal of Business Law.

Miazad was part of a special “Up & Coming Scholars” panel featuring rising stars in corporate law scholarship.

The conference featured all-women panels of scholars, judges and attorneys and paid tribute to the scholarship and influence of Penn Carey Law Distinguished Professor Jill E. Fisch.

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Afra Afsharipour’s areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law. Her scholarship has appeared in or is forthcoming in numerous law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the University of Chicago Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review.

Professor Amelia Miazad is an expert on the nexus between corporate law and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Professor Miazad’s work has been published in the Vanderbilt Law Review, Minnesota Law Review and UC Davis Law Review, among other leading publications. Before coming to Davis, Professor Miazad was a Senior Research Fellow at UC Berkeley School of Law. At Berkeley Law, she founded and led the Business in Society Institute.
