Schori '78 Announces Retirement as SMUD General Manager

After 14 years of running the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Jan Schori '78 will retire early next year. Schori has the longest tenure of any general manager in the utility's 61 years.

SMUD is the sixth-largest publicly owned utility in the nation. During her tenure as general manager, Schori held rates 20 to 30 percent below Pacific Gas & Electric's rates, according to SMUD.

Schori is a Sacramento native. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and earned her law degree at UC Davis.
