Satre '75 Credited with Ending Bargaining Fray

Retired Harrah's Entertainment Chairman Philip Satre '75 is credited with ending a nine-month stalemate between a nurses union and Valley Health officials in Nevada. Satre was called in after a federal mediator failed to help the two sides reach a contract.

Satre brought the two sides up to Reno, where he lives, for negotiations beginning the morning of February 3 at Harrah's hotel-casino downtown. The talks totaled 60 hours and ran through Super Bowl Sunday, but by Wednesday, the two sides had an agreement.

The nurses union and Valley Health officials gave much of the credit for ending nine months of acrimony to Satre.

Satre is a Law School alumni association board member and past president.
