Recent Travels of Dean Johnson
Since assuming his post in July, Dean Kevin R. Johnson has been busy traveling on behalf of the Law School. During the week of August 11, 2008, Dean Johnson attended a Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce luncheon, where guests heard remarks from Senator Dianne Feinstein. He also attended a California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation gala, where Jessica Zweng '09 was honored with the Outstanding Young Advocate award. The dinner, held at the California Museum for History, Women, and the Arts on August 13, brought out many members of the King Hall community. Later on in the week, Johnson visited with business leaders and distinguished alums in the Sacramento area.
The week of August 18 began with Dean Johnson speaking at the annual luncheon on Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession at the Barristers' Section of the San Joaquin County Bar Association in Stockton. He was also the luncheon speaker at a Solano County Bar Association luncheon in Fairfield, where he presented a scholarship in honor of deceased Rio Vista Judge Donald Balding. Finally, Johnson attended a dinner on August 21 in San Francisco, during which the National Council on Crime and Delinquency honored Professor Bill Ong Hing with the Donald Cressey Award for outstanding academic contributions in the field of criminology.
