Professors McCormack and Ventry Speak at Tax Conference

UC Davis School of Law Professors Shannon McCormack and Dennis Ventry participated in the Fourth Annual Jr. Tax Scholars Workshop at Brooklyn Law School on June 4-6. The invite-only conference brings together the nation's leading young tax scholars for two days of intense discussion of works-in-progress. The workshop has a history of producing high-quality scholarly work; in fact, all of the projects presented during the workshop's first three years have been published or accepted for publication in leading law reviews and specialty journals.

Professor McCormack presented "An Analysis of the Charitable Deduction for Religious Giving," while Professor Ventry presented, "The American Nightmare: Tax Subsidies for Home Ownership."

Shannon Weeks McCormack is an expert on taxation, with specific legal and scholarship interests in the areas of financial products and international taxation and more specifically in tax avoidance and tax shelters.

Dennis J. Ventry, Jr. is an expert in tax policy, and has written many articles and books on the subject. His special interests include family taxation, tax expenditure analysis, legal ethics and professional standards, tax history, tax compliance and administration, and public finance.
