Professor Ventry Comments on Papers at National Tax Symposium

UC Davis School of Law Professor Dennis Ventry participated in the National Tax Association's 101st Annual Conference on Taxation in Philadelphia on November 21. Ventry served as the discussant for two paper presentations, "The Public Control of Corporate Power: The 1909 Corporate Tax, the 16th Amendment, and the Legal Foundations of the Modern Fiscal State," as well as "A Life of Its Own: The Rhetorical Power of the Income Tax in the United States through World War I." 

Founded in 1907, the National Tax Association (NTA) is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical educational association comprised of economists, lawyers, political scientists, government officials, and other tax professionals. The NTA fosters study and discussion of complex and controversial issues in tax theory, practice and policy, and other aspects of public finance.

Professor Ventry is an expert in tax policy, and has written many articles and books on the subject. His special interests include family taxation, legal ethics and professional standards, tax history, tax compliance and administration, and public finance.
