Professor Joslin Receives UC Davis Distinguished Scholarly Public Service Award

The UC Davis Academic Senate honored Professor Courtney Joslin with its 2024 Distinguished Scholarly Public Service Award. Joslin received the award at a May 13 ceremony.

Professor Joslin is a leading scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples. She is a two-time Dukeminier Award recipient and the 2023 recipient of UC Davis Law’s Distinguished Teaching Award.

A UC Davis Dateline story on this year’s top Academic Federation and Senate honors highlights Joslin’s role as a leading U.S. legal scholar on the parent-child relationship. Joslin’s work has directly impacted the development of the law around the country. In addition to her legal scholarship in the area, Joslin served as the Reporter (primary drafter) of the relevant Uniform law – the 2017 Uniform Parentage Act, or UPA. Joslin has been actively engaged in the act’s successful passage in numerous states around the country, including California. Joslin also serves as the liaison from the Association of American Law Schools to the Joint Editorial Board on Uniform Family Laws.
