Professor Joslin Presents at University of Virginia
On Sept. 19, Professor Courtney Joslin presented her forthcoming NYU Law Review article “Multiparenthood” at University of Virginia School of Law as part of the annual Nonmarriage Roundtable. Joslin co-authored the article with Yale Law Professor Douglas NeJaime.
Two other panelists, University of Virginia Professor Gregg Strauss and Rama Kim of Harvard Law School, presented papers that are responses to Joslin’s and NeJaime’s empirical work on functional parent doctrines. Their first full-length piece exploring that data, “How Parenthood Functions,” appeared last year in the Columbia Law Review.
Professor Joslin is a leading scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples. She is a two-time Dukeminier Award recipient and the 2023 recipient of UC Davis Law’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
