Professor Imwinkelried Addresses Puerto Rican Bar Association
On Dec. 10, Professor Emeritus Ed Imwinkelried delivered a two-hour lecture on expert testimony to the Puerto Rican Bar Association. The continuing legal education program is sponsored by the federal district court for Puerto Rico.
In his lecture, Imwinkelried discussed the Supreme Court's 2024 decisions in Smith and Diaz, the 2023 amendment to Federal Rule of Evidence 702, and emerging forensic fields such as microbial analysis and proteomics, the study of proteins.
Imwinkelried has lectured to the Puerto Rican bar on several previous occasions, including presentations on evidentiary privileges and evidence of uncharged misconduct evidence under Federal Rule 404(b).
Imwinkelried is a world-renowned evidence expert who has published extensively in the field. He is the coauthor of Giannelli, Imwinkelried, Roth, Campbell-Moriarty and Beety, Scientific Evidence (6th ed. 2020).
