Professor Hing Receives Prestigious Scholarly Award

On Thursday, August 21, 2008, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD) honored Professor Bill Ong Hing with the Donald Cressey Award. The Cressey Award, which recognizes outstanding academic contributions in the field of criminology, was conferred on Professor Hing at a special reception and dinner at the Stanford Court Hotel in San Francisco, CA.  Among others in attendance included School of Law Dean Kevin R. Johnson.  Previous winners of the Cressey Award include, among other luminaries, Professor Charles Ogletree (Harvard).

Hing, a professor at UC Davis School of Law, is recognized nationally as an immigration law and race relations expert.  He is the founder of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center in San Francisco.
