Professor Hing Comments on Sanctuary Ordinance for KTVU-2
Professor Bill Ong Hing commented for a news report on Bay Area television station KTVU on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors' recent action to overrule a mayoral veto of a measure that would keep law enforcement from turning over minors to immigration authorities unless they have been found guilty of a felony.
Professor Hing, who testified in favor of San Francisco's sanctuary ordinance when it was first proposed, commented that the measure "safeguards an innocent person from being turned over to ICE," or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Bill Ong Hing is recognized nationally as an immigration law and community lawyering expert. He is the founder of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center in San Francisco.
