Professor Frank Talks to KCBS, ClimateBrief About Hold on CEQA for L.A. Fire Rebuild
Professor Richard Frank spoke to San Francisco’s KCBS Radio and to ClimateBrief about Gov. Gavin Newsom’s executive order on Jan. 12 to suspend the application of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the California Coastal Act regarding future reconstruction efforts at sites affected by the catastrophic Los Angeles fires.
In both interviews, Frank stated that Newsom’s order constituted sound public policy in these extraordinary circumstances, and offered some additional suggestions as to land-use practices and reforms that should be adopted in the future to prevent wildfire disasters like the ones that just played out in Southern California.
Richard M. Frank is a leader in the field of environmental law, Professor of Environmental Practice and the founding director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law.
