Professor Elmendorf to Speak on Constitutional Reform in California
Professor Chris Elmendorf will speak on "Constitutional Reform in California: Prospects and Perils" on Friday, February 5.
The Davis-based government reform group Saving California Communities and the League of Women Voters of Davis will co-host the talk at 1 pm at Seasons Restaurant at 102 F Street in Davis. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
Elmendorf's presentation will address the prospects for a Constitutional Convention in California and the legal issues surrounding a constitutional amendment to allow a convention to be called by popular vote.
Professor Elmendorf recently presented at "Getting to Reform: Avenues to Constitutional Change in California," jointly sponsored by The Institute for Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley, the Bill Lane Center for the American West at Stanford University, and the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento.
