Professor Cooper Comments on Deportation Cases for Sacramento Bee

Professor Holly S. Cooper ’98, co-director of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, commented for the Sacramento Bee on the story of a Cambodian immigrant facing deportation as a result of a felony conviction. At least three local men may be deported in coming weeks under a new agreement being worked out between the Trump administration and officials in Cambodia, which previously had resisted repatriating Cambodians with criminal records.

Cooper said the situation has been very stressful for the men’s families. “It’s extremely hard on the families not to know if or when their loved ones will be deported,” she said.
