Professor Chacón Named as 2009 Distinguished Teaching Award Recipient
Professor Jennifer Chacón is the recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Teaching Award, Dean Kevin R. Johnson announced January 30. The award, which is supported by the generosity of Bill and Sally Rutter, honors "law teachers who give stellar performances in the classroom."
Professor Chacón earned her J.D. from Yale Law School and served as a clerk to the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas, U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit, before joining Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City from 1999-2003. She has been a King Hall faculty member since 2004, teaching Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Immigration Law and writing extensively on these subjects in books and academic journals.
Professor Chacón was selected for the honor by a committee including Professor Floyd Feeney (the 2008 Distinguished Teaching Award winner), Monica Baumann '09, and Kara Ueda ‘00.
