Professor Brownstein Writes for California Legal History Journal
Professor Emeritus Alan Brownstein wrote an essay titled “Teaching Controversial Subjects” for the 2024 edition of the California Supreme Court Historical Society’s California Legal History journal.
The annual journal publishes scholarly articles as well as oral histories of important figures from California’s bar and judiciary.
Professor Brownstein, a nationally recognized constitutional law scholar, taught Constitutional Law, Law and Religion, and Torts at UC Davis School of Law for more than 30 years. Before his retirement from full-time teaching, he held the Boochever and Bird Endowed Chair for the Study and Teaching of Freedom and Equality.
