Professor Brownstein Delivers Endowed Lecture

Professor Alan E. Brownstein will discuss conflicts involving the free exercise of religion and state authority when he delivers the William A. Brahms Lecture on Law & Religion at Case Western Reserve University School of Law on March 30. Brownstein's talk, "Taking Free Exercise Rights Seriously," is presented by the Center for Professional Ethics. In addition, Brownstein will conduct a faculty workshop on religion and speech, religious endorsements, and the shape of things to come on the Roberts/Alito court, as well as give a presentation at the Cleveland branch of the American Constitution Society.

Brownstein is an expert on church-state issues and has also written extensively on freedom of speech, privacy and autonomy rights, and other constitutional law subjects. His articles have been published in numerous academic journals, including the Stanford Law Review. Professor Brownstein teaches Constitutional Law, Law and Religion, and Torts at UC Davis School of Law, and is a frequent lecturer at academic conferences and in law-related programs before civic, legal, religious, and educational groups.
