Pielsticker ’97 Named Cal-Tax General Counsel and Tax Policy Analyst
Tax expert Michele Pielsticker '97 (formerly Michele Justin) has been hired to serve as the California Tax Association's (Cal-Tax) general counsel and tax policy analyst effective May 15, 2007.
Since 2004, Pielsticker served as the senior tax consultant for the Assembly Republican Caucus, providing policy advice and technical analyses of all proposals that affect California's tax rates, focusing her efforts on the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee and the Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy.
Founded in 1926, the Cal-Tax mission is to protect taxpayers from unnecessary taxes and to promote efficient, quality government services. They serve members through research and advocacy on significant tax and spending issues in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government.
On Peilsticker's recent appointment, Cal-Tax Acting President said, "Michele is a great addition to the Cal-Tax team, with proven experience in analyzing tax policy, and a record of fighting unnecessary taxes and government waste." She added, "As our general counsel and tax policy analyst, she will play a vital role in protecting the interests of California's hard-working taxpayers."
Pielsticker earned her law degree and bachelor's degree in international relations at UC Davis. She also served as a judicial extern for U.S. District Court Judge Edward Garcia and as an aide to then Senate Republican Leader Ken Maddy.
