NPR Quotes Professor Joslin Regarding Michigan Family Protection Act

Professor Courtney Joslin spoke to NPR for an April 2 report on how families circumvented Michigan’s restrictions on surrogacy before the Michigan Family Protection Act was signed into law on April 1.

Joslin helped draft the MFPA, which updates Michigan’s parentage laws to ensure that they apply to and protect all children born through assisted reproduction and surrogacy. 

Professor Joslin is a leading scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples. She is a two-time Dukeminier Award recipient and the 2023 recipient of UC Davis Law’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
