National Desk Quotes Dean Johnson on New U.S. Plan for Asylum Seekers

Dean Kevin R. Johnson spoke to The National Desk for a Feb. 22 story on a rule proposed by President Joe Biden’s administration that could limit asylum seekers on the southern border. Johnson said the rule requiring migrants to apply for asylum in countries they travel through before reaching the U.S.-Mexico border aims to limit the number of asylum seekers by complicating the process.

Kevin R. Johnson is the law school’s dean, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
