A Message to Our King Hall Veterans

Veterans Day offers a chance to reflect on the profound contributions made by those who serve in the military. On Friday, Nov. 11, we recognize the UC Davis Law students, faculty, staff and alumni who are veterans or active service members.

King Hall has been honored to educate many Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) members. This fall, we welcomed Brad Bosserman ’25 (pictured), a Marine intelligence officer who intends to become a judge advocate upon graduation. Jennifer Maguire ’12 served as a JAG attorney before joining a law firm. Professor Emeritus Ed Imwinkelried is a proud alum of the JAG Corps.

This law school has a long tradition of welcoming former members of the military as students. Among them, we count alums Gary Solis ’71, a Marine who later taught at West Point and is the nation’s premier scholar on the law of war, and Jose Castillo ’06, a Superior Court judge in San Diego. Both have graciously served on our King Hall alumni board. We also have staff members who served, including Information Technology Support Specialist Jennifer Yohn, an active Navy reservist.

King Hall currently holds several students/veterans who have transitioned from protecting our rights as a nation to upholding them in the legal system. We thank the UC Davis Veterans Success Center for providing services to our students. 

Amid the unfortunate divisions in our nation, respect for those who have served unites us all. Thank you, King Hall veterans and active service members, for your dedication, bravery and service.
