Luis Alejo '01 Elected to Watsonville City Council

UC Davis School of Law alumnus Luis Alejo '01 has been elected to the Watsonville City Council, garnering 78 percent of the vote to win the District 2 seat.  Alejo, a Watsonville native and a staff attorney for the Monterey County Superior Court, credited his long history as a community organizer for his landslide win.   Alejo's history of activism includes forming the Watsonville Brown Berets to combat gang violence, opposing plans to place an incinerator at the Buena Vista Landfill, and serving on the city's Planning Commission.
