Law Review Hosts Hopkins Banquet
The UC Davis Law Review hosted its annual Hopkins Banquet on April 19, 2006. The event honors the outgoing board of editors and introduces the new board. This year the editors of the 40th volume of the UC Davis Law Review were introduced. Mr. Jim Hopkins, the father of Patrick Hopkins, addressed the audience, and the winners of the Patrick J. Hopkins Memorial Award were announced. The winning articles were selected from among 22 papers submitted by third year Law Review editors. Professor Elmendorf coordinated faculty review of the papers, and the faculty selected the best papers. The years Hopkins Award winners are Rachel Zellner 06 and Hans Riegels '06.
The UC Davis Law Review ranks in the top 50 most cited legal periodicals in the United States. The Law Review publishes five issues annually. Four issues contain scholarly works by professors, practitioners and law students in the traditional law review format. One issue is a symposium that deals in depth with a selected topic of interest to legal scholars and practicing lawyers. Past symposia have dealt with subjects such as corporate governance, rules of evidence, the death penalty, critical race feminism, constitutional law, labor law, jurisprudence and comparative law, law and medicine, and family law.
