Law Professor and Student Named to UC Advisory Committee for New UCLA Chancellor

Professor John Oakley, vice chair of the university-wide Academic Senate and Student Regent Adam Rosenthal, a UC Davis law student, were named by UC President Robert C. Dynes to a 17-member committee of university regents, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community representatives to advise him in the search for the next chancellor of UCLA.

UCLA Chancellor Albert Carnesale will retire in June 2006. The committee will be involved in recruiting, screening, and conducting interviews with candidates for the position. The committee's first meeting was held in December at UCLA, where members met in closed session with faculty, staff, students, and community representatives to gather ideas and comments regarding the search and to learn the distinct needs of the Los Angeles campus.
