King Hall Hosts Inaugural Unity Bar of Yolo County Reception
On June 1, UC Davis Law hosted the inaugural Unity Bar of Yolo County reception at King Hall. The Unity Bar of Yolo County is a growing institution that connects diverse organizations, associations and legal professionals to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal field.

The event featured keynote speaker California Judicial Appointments Secretary Luis Céspedes. Other distinguished speakers included Justice Shama Hakim Mesiwala '98, Judge Sonia Cortés, and Dean Kevin Johnson, who spoke about the importance of diversity in the justice system. Many alumni were in attendance including UC Davis Law Professor Emeritus Floyd Shimomura '73.

The evening’s program was led by Alberto T. Rosas, the Yolo Unity Bar’s co-founder and vice president of communications. He helped create a positive atmosphere where nearly 150 attendees built new connections and participated in conversations about how to support underrepresented communities in the legal profession.
