King Hall Class of 2014 Honored at Swearing-In Ceremony

Members of the UC Davis School of Law Class of 2014 returned to King Hall with family and friends on December 5 to celebrate their outstanding 86 percent passage rate on the California State Bar Examination and to participate in a Swearing-In Ceremony marking their acceptance to the bar.  The event featured remarks from Dean Kevin R. Johnson, Sacramento Superior Court Judge Stacy Boulware Eurie '95, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of California Troy L. Nunley, and King Hall Alumni Board President Gage Dungy '03.

Acting as master of ceremonies, Dean Johnson welcomed the Class of 2014, their families, and friends. "Congratulations!" he said. "We're incredibly proud of your success and incredibly proud of the high standing of the class of 2014 and your 86 percent bar pass rate."

Dean Johnson introduced Judge Boulware Eurie, who delivered brief remarks prior to administering the State Oath. "Each of you represents the hope of tomorrow, and you have come to your seats here tonight with strength, courage, and dedication," she said. Judge Boulware Eurie also encouraged the new attorneys to continue to learn and grow in their practice, and reminded them of their "obligation to be civil, ethical, and professional in your dealings" as officers of the court.

Prior to administering the Federal District Court Oath, Judge Nunley encouraged the Class of 2014 to "go out there and find something that you're passionate about and engage yourselves."

"I implore you to take up the mantle and become involved, and make sure that your law degree means something more important than just taking a salary," he said. "Take your law degree and make it something more meaningful than just finding a job and paying your bills."

Dungy welcomed the Class of 2014 to the King Hall alumni community and encouraged the new lawyers to "remember King Hall."

"Whatever you can do to stay part of the King Hall community-stay active, stay involved, do outreach to the new students-I ask you to do that," said Dungy. "Please do come back here."
