Kalmanovitz Foundation Gives $1 Million to Support King Hall Construction

The Kalmanovitz Charitable Foundation has donated $1 million to the UC Davis School of Law to support the King Hall Expansion and Renovation Project.  In gratitude, the Law School will name its new appellate courtroom in honor of Paul and Lydia Kalmanovitz.

The gift came about largely as a result of the efforts of King Hall Alumni Board Member Yeoryios Apallas '72, who visited the Law School on October 30 to deliver the $1 million donation and review the construction efforts.  The Kalmanovitz Foundation had previously given $150,000 to name a seminar room in the expanded King Hall.

The Paul and Lydia Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom will grace the entrance of the new wing of the King Hall addition.  Plans are already underway to hold arguments in the new courtroom by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, California Supreme Court, and California Court of Appeal.

Johnson.  "We are extremely grateful to Paul and Lydia Kalmanovitz and are excited to name the new appellate courtroom in their honor.  We are also very thankful to our dedicated alumnus Yeoryios Apallas for his central role in securing this exciting gift."
