Judge Dean Pregerson '76 Chastises Immigration Officials

U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson '76 ruled in a case in which immigration officials denied medical treatment to an immigrant detainee with cancer and later died.  Judge Pregerson criticized the indifference of the federal authorities, which he characterized as "beyond cruel and unusual" punishment, and ruled that his family could seek damages from the U.S. government.
