Jennifer Rodriguez '04 Profiled in Chronicle of Social Change
Jennifer Rodriguez '04, the new Executive Director of the Youth Law Center (YLC), is the subject of a profile in The Chronicle of Social Change. The article examines how Rodriguez's experiences as a foster child have informed her work as an advocate for at-risk youth.
"Our jobs are about individual children and individual lives...and the minute anyone forgets that or loses sight of that...then all is lost," Rodriguez says of her work with YLC.
Rodriguez began working with organizations that support children's rights during her time as a student at King Hall. She was co-chair of Advocates for the Rights of Children, a Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellow, a law clerk at the Youth Law Center, a writer and managing editor of the Journal of Juvenile Law and Policy, a student liaison for the American Bar Association steering committee on the Unmet Legal Needs of Children, a board member for the National Association of Counsel for Children, and a community outreach officer for La Raza Law Students Association. She has continued to contribute to the King Hall community as a volunteer, frequently working with the King Hall Outreach Program.
Rodriguez will speak at King Hall on February 20 as part of the UC Davis Journal of Juvenile Law and Policy Symposium on "Healing Our Kids."
