Janet Gaard '83 Named to New State Task Force
Chief Justice of California Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye '84 has named Yolo County Superior Court Judge Janet Gaard '83 as a member of the newly formed Language Access Plan Implementation Task Force. The group will work to provide a consistent statewide approach to language access in California's justice system. The appointment drew coverage in the Daily Democrat.
Gaard was appointed to the Yolo County bench in 2008 by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Prior to that, she served with the California Attorney General's Office as chief assistant attorney general for the California Department of Justice Division of Public Rights and as Special Assistant Attorney General and director of Legislative Affairs for the California Department of Justice. Early in her career she was an attorney for the Third District Court of Appeal.
