Irene Zurko '08 Honored by International Municipal Lawyers Association

Irene Zurko '08, an associate in the Municipal Law practice group, received an Amicus Service Award from the International Municipal Lawyer's Association. She was honored on April 15 during the organization's Mid-Year Seminar in Washington, D.C.

The award honors lawyers who are actively involved in legal advocacy for, and on behalf of, local governments and IMLA, and who have done "exemplary work to protect and advance local government interests," according to the organization. Zurko was recognized for her amicus work on behalf of IMLA in the Ardon v. City of Los Angeles case. In March, the California Supreme Court reversed a lower court ruling and found that a public agency's inadvertent disclosure of privileged documents under the Public Records Act does not waive the privilege.
