Hing Comments on Asian-Americans in U.S. Political Life
Bill Ong Hing, professor of law and Asian American Studies at UC Davis School of Law, commented for The Mercury News on the ascension of Asian-Americans into U.S. political life. According to the December 28 article, five Asian-American mayors in one county--where one out of every four residents is Asian--signals a change for an ethnic culture stereotyped as career driven but reluctant about government and public service. The trend indicates today's U.S. immigrants are discovering the advantages of embracing political power.
