Haratani '84, President of SF Bar, Quoted in New York Times

Joan M. Haratani '84, president of The Bar Association of San Francisco, was quoted in the New York Times on law firms' efforts to attract, keep, and promote minority and women lawyers. According to the article, lawyers of color accounted for just 4.63 percent of partners at the nations major law firms in 2005. A recent corporate effort, though, is underway to push law firms to improve their diversity records. 

The Davis School of Law is ranked in the top 10 for Best Environment for Minority Students and "Most Diverse Faculty," by The Princeton Review's 2006 edition of the Best 159 Law Schools. The rankings are based on the percentage of the student body that is from underrepresented minorities, a student assessment of whether all students receive equal treatment by fellow students and the faculty, regardless of ethnicity, the percentage of the law school faculty that is from a minority, and a student assessment of whether the faculty comprises a broadly diverse group of individuals.
