Galena West '01 to Lead California Fair Political Practices Commission Enforcement Division
Galena West '01 has been appointed as the California Fair Political Practices Commission's new Chief of Enforcement. Her appointment drew coverage in media including the Sacramento Bee.
West's experience includes work as a law clerk for the Franchise Tax Board, Attorney General's Office and U.S. Attorney's Office, as well as 10 years as senior counsel in the FPCC's Enforcement Division.
"Galena's knowledge of the (Political Reform) Act and her unparalleled experience overseeing many of the most challenging cases demonstrates her commitment to promoting the public's trust in the political process through tough but fair enforcement of serious violations," FPPC Chairwoman Jodi Remke said in a statement announcing the promotion. "I'm confident Galena will reinforce California's role as a national leader in the regulation of governmental ethics."
