Ellerman '92 Returns to Rodeo

Troy Ellerman '92, a former bull rider, has reshaped the focus of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) as its president. In 1997, Ellerman started serving on the board of directors for the PRCA and was appointed to the head of the organization last year. Since then, he has turned rodeo into a profitable business after erasing a $3.5 million deficit in the last year.

A former bull rider and trick rider from the Dairyville, CA area, Ellerman says, "I grew up around rodeo and feel like I'm the luckiest guy because I get to work with what I love."

Prior to assuming his new role as commissioner, Ellerman was a defense attorney. He represented a high-ranking official of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO) in the steroids case that sparked a world-wide controversy in sports.
