Law360 reported on the event, and quoted Johnson’s remarks about the LSAT in relation to diversity – or lack thereof --in the legal industry.
Johnson said that he supports either eliminating the test requirement at schools or allowing the GRE to be used as an alternative.
"We obviously aren't doing what we should be doing in terms of diversifying law schools," Johnson said. “We've been talking about it for more than a generation and very little has changed. We should allow law schools to experiment and do their best to better diversify."
Kevin R. Johnson is the law school’s dean, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
