Dean Johnson, Professor Hing Co-author New Immigration Law Text

Understanding Immigration Law, a new immigration law textbook authored by Dean Kevin R. Johnson and Professor Bill Ong Hing with Raquel E. Aldana of University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, Leticia Saucedo of William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Enid Trucios-Haynes of Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, is being published this month by Lexis Nexis Law School Publishing. 

The book is a comprehensive overview of U.S. immigration law designed to supplement the most widely adopted immigration law casebooks.  It offers background about the history and foundations of U.S. immigration law, identifies factors that have historically fueled migration to the United States, summarizes the law concerning the admissions and removal procedures and criteria in the Immigration and Nationality Act, and ends with a chapter speculating about the future of U.S. immigration law.  The book is currently being shipped to law faculty around the country and will be available for order shortly.

Kevin R. Johnson is dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.

Bill Ong Hing is recognized nationally as an immigration law and community lawyering expert. He is the founder of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center in San Francisco.
