Dean Johnson Delivers Keynote Speech at La Raza Scholarship Dinner
Dean Kevin R. Johnson delivered the keynote speech at the La Raza Lawyers Association of Solano's 9th Annual Scholarship Dinner in Suisun on June 17, with several King Hall alumni in attendance. Local students Carlos V. Bejaramo, Cecelia Cadenas, Ivan Ruiz, and Frances Torres of Rio Vista High School, Alicia Hernandez and Elizabeth Martinez of Vallejo High School, and Iliana Santellan of Rodriguez High School, were honored with scholarships at the dinner.
Among the 60-70 in attendance were King Hall alumni including the Honorable Ramona J. Garrett '80, Presiding Judge of the Solano County Superior Court, the Honorable David L. Haet '72, Commissioner of the Solano County Superior Court, Solano County Superior Court Judge Robert Fracchia '79, Solano County Supervising Juvenile Court Judge Gary Ichikawa '76, and Wendy Casas '04, Solano County Deputy Public Defender. Also present was Solano County Superior Court Judge Donna Petre, who has taught at King Hall as an adjunct faculty member.
Kevin R. Johnson is dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
