Class of 1977 Alum Awarded Clay Award

Steven Wyner '77 received the prestigious California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) Award, which recognizes attorneys in California whose work has had a profound, far-reaching impact in 2005 or whose achievements in 2005 are expected to have such an impact in the coming years. The attorneys honored changed law, broke new ground in various practice areas and business sectors, and substantially influenced public policy. Wyner and his law partner at Wyner & Tiffany received the award in the area of Civil Rights as a result of an August 2005 settlement of a landmark special education case for $6.7 million with the Manhattan Beach Unified School District and the California Department of Education for failing to comply with administrative orders to appropriately educate an autistic student.
