Casandra Lopez '08 Immigration Case Featured in Woodland Democrat
The case of Woodland resident Rashmir Kaur, a Fijian immigrant who was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and nearly deported as a result of missing paperwork and whose case is being handled by Casandra Lopez '08, was the subject of a feature article in the Woodland Democrat on November 1.
Lopez, an attorney at Centro Legal de la Raza in Oakland and an Equal Justice Works fellow, is currently working to move up Kaur's status hearing so that she can secure her green card and begin working again.
